Sports shop hits the ground running with new ecommerce website

London City Runner, a leading sports wear shop based in the City of London, is a family business set up by Patrick Marchant in 1996 and provides specialist sports wear and accessories to runners at every level.

Although the London City Runner had a live website, it wasn’t meeting the company’s growing needs. The site was not user friendly, which made it difficult to update and manage. London City Runner’s manager, Lou Marchant, also needed the website to actively market their products and attract new customers to the shop.

Paul de Ridder, of IRUN Docklands, approached Lou and recommended the IRUN WebBuildPro eCommerce package to meet her needs. This platform provides the client with an easy to manage website, as well as a secure online shopping facility. Paul built the new site for London City Runner, taking photographs and designing the site’s graphics, to create a contemporary new look. From start to finish, it took just one month for the new website to go live. The site content was written by IRUN’s professional copywriters. Essential keyword research was conducted to provide a basis for the copywriting and help the site’s organic optimisation.

Working in close partnership with Lou, Paul implemented a month-long experimental Pay per Click campaign. This encouraged sales in the early days of the site, and ensured it would have a prominent listing on
Google.
InTouch,
IRUN’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which integrates with the website, was also implemented for London City Runner. This allows the company to efficiently manage customer and prospect information, and provides a platform for future email marketing campaigns.

Lou and her team are delighted with the new website and their whole Internet marketing package. The site is more readable, easier to use, and has given the business a very visible web presence. In the near future, Lou hopes to take advantage of IRUN’s free ‘webinars’, so she can learn more about website marketing and management. Included in her future plans is further development of the website and on-going Pay per Click campaigns.
